Artist Statement

"
I create both realistic and abstract works of art, sometimes a combination of the two. So many things in our
lives we can’t see like  sound, energy, dreams, feelings, etc.  Through my abstract paintings I try to convey a
visual interpretation of those things that are otherwise unseen.  Each form  symbolizes  something  to me,  its
kind of an abstract language. My palette tends to be colorful.  I use a technique of layering  colors of opaque
then transparent and then cutting through them to reveal the light on the inside"
"We each have our own experiences. What really matters is how the viewer interprets the work for themselves
or how it makes them feel. "
" I am in constant flux with both subject matter and technique because we never stop learning. Since I do a
variety of styles I have grouped them together in "series".
Artist that have influenced my work are Bosch, Rene Magritte, Dali,  Francis Bacon. I am inspired by music,
nature, friends, experiences, and the creative workings of my mind when I close my eyes."
"I am also the drummer for the all female rockin' Knoxville band  "Stump Tucker"
